2. If I pre-plan my funeral, do I have to pay for it
then?
No,
just because you pre-plan you are not required to pre-pay for the
funeral
arrangements. The purpose of pre-arranging is to prevent your
family from having to make
decisions at a time of extreme sadness. If you decide to pre-pay,
you lock the price in at
today's cost.
3. When should I call the funeral home when a death has
occurred?
Immediately. If your loved one has passed away without the
care of Hospice, you
should
notify the police or ambulance service to pronounce the death. You
should call the
funeral
home.
4. Who is responsible for the final arrangements when my family
member dies?
The legal next of kin is responsible for the final arrangements.
The legal next kin
should call
the funeral director immediately upon the death.For example: first
would be
the spouse,
then it would be a son or daughter. If there is
any question then please contact
a
funeral director.
5. Do I have to embalm?
No,
embalming is only required in certain situations. The State
of
Tennessee does not require embalming by law.
6. What type of
information or paperwork do I need to bring when I make
arrangements?
You should bring any pre-arrangement paperwork or any other items
like:
birth
certificate, social security number, and family names (mother's
maiden name).
You
should if possible bring clothes when you come if you will be using
their own clothing.
