FAQ'S
1. What are the benefits of pre-arranging?
A. Peace of mind - Knowing your family will not
have to make decisions at a
time of sorrow.
B. Assuring that your funeral
arrangements are planned and carried out to your exact wishes.
C. Knowing that if you pay in full
today, your family will never pay any more if prices
increase.
2. If I pre-plan my funeral, do I have to
pay for it then?
No, just because you pre-plan you are not required to
pre-pay for
the funeral
arrangements.
The purpose of pre-arranging is to prevent your family from
having to make
decisions at a time
of extreme sadness. If you decide to pre-pay, you lock the
price in at
today's cost.
3. When should I call the funeral home when a death has
occurred?
Immediately. If
your loved one has passed away without the care of Hospice,
you
should notify the police
or ambulance service to pronounce the death. You should call
the
funeral home.
4. Who is responsible for the final arrangements when my
family member dies?
The legal next of kin is responsible for the final
arrangements. The legal next kin of kin
should call the funeral
director immediately upon the death. For example:
first would be
the spouse, then it would
be a son or daughter. If there is any question then
please contact
a
funeral director.
5. Do I have to embalm?
No, embalming is only
required when you are having a public visitation. The State
of
Tennessee
does not require embalming by law. However, if you are
having a public
visitation,
Jennings and Ayers requires embalming
for public safety.
6. What type of information or paperwork do
I need to bring when I make
arrangements?
You should
bring any pre-arrangement paperwork or any other items like:
birth certificate, social security number, and family names
(mother's maiden name).
Your funeral
director will let you know when talk to them for any other
info you will need.
