Lifelong Murfreesboro resident, Maxine Mingle, passed gently into God’s arms on Thursday January 14, 2021. After battling with many health complications, covid ultimately took her. Maxine was born July 6, 1950 to D.W. Porterfield and Christine Miller Porterfield. After the early passing of her mother at age 4, Elizabeth Williams Porterfield, gracefully carried on the role of a mother who she called mom. She worked in legal services and was a longtime employee of Nissan. She was a founding member of the Nissan Christmas Angels that ran in conjunction with the Salvation Army angel tree. She worked as a medical transcriptionist at the original Rutherford County Hospital and her working career ended at Stonecrest hospital as medical director. Maxine accomplishment many things in her life. Her heart beat for the wellbeing of others. She helped pass a law for the disabled adult children in the state of TN to be funded until the age of 21 in order to help with their every need. She fought for single mothers and to help anyone that needed a lending hand and heart. As the quote says, “Be the person you needed .” Maxine held true to every bit of that and lived it out with her whole being. She never complained and her zeal for life, even through pain, is what kept her going. She fought through the good and bad days with a smile and a heart that would continue to lend a helping hand. Her strength was her spirit of love and compassion which was endless. She showed through her example how to love, respect, be independent, and honor the Lord and cherish family. She had an intense passion for gardening and it showed outwardly in the fruits of her labors. Maxine’s pride and joy were her daughters Kelly,Kristy, and Karen and her grandchildren and family. Karlie Mingle, Katie Gross, Zachary Maxwell and Spencer Maxwell along with her niece Erin Ashley Porterfield, late nephew Jason Scott Porterfield, and great niece Adelyn (Addy) Porterfield and great twin nephews Waylon Porterfield and Jackson Porterfield. Maxine never missed a time to be with family. The love she had for her brother Scott Porterfield was tightly woven and life was better with a priceless gift her sister-in-law, Gayle Porterfield whom she loved dearly . Maxine and Kelly Mingle were thick as thieves and best of friends. Kristy Mingle (Joey Richardson) and Karen Maxwell (Tommy Maxwell) are her twin daughters whom she loved dearly. It was double the giggles, double the grins, and double the trouble when blessed by twins. We celebrate the life of this women. She gave us all we ever needed and taught us to pay forward. “Give, and you will receive”. Your gift will return to you in full-pressed down, shaken together make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” Luke 6:38 Our hearts are shattered but we know her life here was left with a strong legacy that will live on for generations to come. We want to give a special thanks to Southern Hills Hospital whom helped to make her last days as comfortable and full as possible. They were undeniably the best, not only for Maxine, but for the family as well. We thank you from the deepest place in our hearts. Please join us in celebrating the best mom, sister, aunt friend and nana of a life well lived. As Maxine would have wanted to leave the lesson to keep going no matter what life may throw at you, God is always with you and His strength is always sufficient and will carry you through the toughest of days and allow us to embrace the brightest! The celebration will be held on Sunday, October 24th, 2021 at 1802 Riverview Drive from two to four in the afternoon. Maxine and her children always wanted to help those that are less fortunate, and those that may not have a caregiver to help when help is needed.
